Along with the preservation of the musculoskeletal system, psoriasis and infertility are treated with great efficiency in Harkány. Moreover, the peculiarity of the treatment of psoriasis is that the composition of the water does not interfere with the immune and hormonal structure of the body, while the course of treatment gives a lasting effect.
Harkány has a rich history, because even the Turks in the 16th century, who owned this part of Hungary, knew about the healing water that protects from all ailments, but after they left this secret was forgotten. And the source was rediscovered at the beginning of the 19th century.
The history of the resort began 200 years ago, in 1823, as always, by pure chance. Hot water appeared in the ditch dug by the workers, after several days of standing in it, people's joints stopped aching. The first wells were drilled in 1866.
The sulfuric waters of the source, coming to the surface from the bowels of the earth from a depth of 60 meters, contain sulfides, carbosulfides, many trace elements and acids. The first bathhouse opened in 1925.
The bath, renovated in 2003, is located in a picturesque green grove, the territory of which is spread over as much as 13.5 hectares. On such a vast territory there are many different outdoor and indoor pools, therapeutic baths, water attractions, it is a natural medicine center. Near the city of Harkány in the direction of Siklós, there is the Máriagyűd Church, one of the most famous Hungarian places of pilgrimage to the shrines associated with the Virgin Mary. In the vicinity of the resort are the Danube Dráva National Park and the beautiful forest of Kormorános, and the world-famous wine region of Villány - all this turns the days spent in the resort into an unforgettable holiday.
The town has several excellent spa hotels, with its own medical facilities. And there is also a unique opportunity to undergo treatment right in the hospital, where patients are provided with accommodation in a newly built 3 * hotel level building.
