Debrecen

Today, Debrecen is one of the largest university centers in Hungary. The University Medical Center offers a unique opportunity for diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation in the largest public clinic in Eastern Europe.

Since the beginning of the 16th century, Debrecen has been considered the capital of Protestantism in Hungary and since then it has been called the "Calvinist Rome".

In Debrecen, you can see a huge number of historical buildings and museums, and not far from the city, there is the famous Hortobágy National Park, which is considered the first park in Hungary and is included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List.

Bathing culture began in the first half of the 19th century. Not far from the city center in the ancient park Nagyerdő "Great Forest", during the search for oil, a powerful spring with hot water was discovered, which served as an impetus for the creation of a bath.

The bathhouse was repeatedly expanded and updated, and already in the middle of the 20th century was declared curative. At the same time, the Nagyerdő "Great Forest" park received the status of a medical and health resort, thus the Debrecen bathing culture is already more than 180 years old. In addition to therapeutic baths, the park has numerous restaurants, a zoo, an amusement park, a lake with boat rentals.
